We might begin doing our weekly responses inside of our weekly status reports. I missed my ORB for the week. I know, this means that there isn't a single one of us who hasn't had to pay the others now. However, the response post was the biggest offender in terms of why people had to pay. It's just too easy to forget, I think, following so quickly on the heels of the status update post. I'm trying to get the response moved into the weekly updates as I feel that's adequate time to write a response and means we only have one post to remember to write for So Play We All.

For this week, not much really happened. Harkins went missing and, thus, has nothing to respond to. BBrowserGames didn't have much that got accomplished either. In fact, I think I pretty-much said everything I wanted to say about his update in the comments of the update. So, I guess head over there and read what I had to say. I'm too lazy to reprint it here.

Weekly Update

This week, we only had a couple of hours available. In fact, I ended up missing the ORB for the week due to how busy I've been. I had intended to write it on Thursday, but I forgot. Oops. So, I finally sat down today to set to work on the couple hours I had because I have some client work that became approved and needs work so if I didn't do it now, it wasn't going to get done at all. And I'm not giving Harkins or BBrowserGames any more of my hard-earned cash! :)

Well, last week I set forth a plan for my presentational layer. I implemented code this week to kind of test my theories and, as a result, I now have a valid XHTML Strict page that now appears! That's right, for the first time since we began the competition, I have valid, non-hacky output. Sure, it's obvious there's still stub implementation going on (I still have the other two classes to implement), but I'm definitely much closer than I used to be.

I'm not sure if anyone else is aware of this, but I have now put in 41 hours for So Play We All. Think about that for a moment will you? At the start of the contest, I had a framework which didn't even have database connectivity. It was just a couple of stub-code components and overridden PHP function handlers. I now have a framework capable of database interaction, user session management, modular replacement, multiple site install, site aliasing, and rudimentary output rendering. I have put all of that together in about the span of a standard work week without any sort of formalized plan! I think that's absolutely amazing considering the fact that my Project Management at my FT work won't let me give a time estimate less than 2 hours on any given task working with Drupal! It goes to show how much you can accomplish if you're allowed to work in a manner that suits you.

Availability

I'm anticipating another busy week for this upcoming week. Therefore, I'm going to say just 2 hours again. I'll obviously be trying to finish up my presentational layer next week.
